A Shopify store loads more third-party code than most owners realize. Shopify itself sets checkout, cart and session cookies and runs its own storefront analytics before you install a single app. Add the apps most merchants use and the list grows quickly: Klaviyo for email and SMS flows, Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel for ad attribution, Google Ads conversion tracking, Google Analytics through the Google channel, and often Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity for session recordings.

Does Shopify provide a privacy policy for my store?
Shopify offers a generic template you can paste into your store settings. It covers Shopify's own processing but does not know which apps you have installed, whether you run Meta Pixel or Klaviyo, or whether you serve EU or California customers. Do I need a cookie banner on my Shopify store?
If you sell to visitors in the EU or UK and your store loads analytics or advertising cookies, a consent mechanism is generally expected before those cookies fire. Shopify offers a built-in cookie banner in the Customer Privacy settings, and apps such as Cookiebot and Termly work too. The scan flags when cookie-setting services are present and you have indicated EU traffic, so you know a banner is worth discussing with your advisor.

There is no subscription, and your download link is permanent, so you can return and regenerate the documents whenever your store changes.
What format are the documents?
Each document is delivered in three formats: HTML you can paste into a Shopify page, Markdown for version control, and a Word file for sharing with an attorney. All three come from the same clause library and are regenerated from your answers on demand, so editing an answer updates every format at once. The documents are yours to edit after download.
Can I update the policy after I add new apps?
Yes. Your download link stays live, and you can edit your questionnaire answers and regenerate at no extra charge. Run a fresh scan from your public verification page whenever you install a new app, and the coverage score will show whether the new service is disclosed. Rescans are free and limited to one per domain per hour.
