Does Squarespace provide a privacy policy template?
Squarespace publishes its own privacy policy covering what Squarespace does as a platform, and its help articles explain where to place a legal page, but it does not supply policy text for your site. Do I need to enable the Squarespace cookie banner?
Squarespace includes a cookie banner that is off by default. If you have visitors from the EU or UK and your site sets analytics or marketing cookies, enabling it and configuring it to hold back non-essential cookies until consent is a reasonable step to discuss with your advisor. The generated Cookie Policy gives the banner a page to link to, listing each detected service and its purpose.
Does Squarespace Analytics count as third-party tracking?
Squarespace Analytics runs on Squarespace's infrastructure and sets cookies on your domain, so it is generally treated as first-party analytics operated by your hosting provider. It still collects IP addresses, pages viewed and referrers, and it belongs in your policy. The scan reports first-party cookies as a finding, and the generated documents include a general analytics and cookies disclosure alongside any third-party services detected.
What if I sell products through Squarespace Commerce?
Answer yes to the selling question in the questionnaire. The generated Privacy Policy adds payment and order-data sections naming Stripe or PayPal when detected, and the Terms of Service adds purchase, pricing and refund terms based on the refund window you choose. If you sell subscriptions or memberships, a further section covers recurring billing and cancellation.
